Vampy Makeup Look

Ive never been one for bold lips, I own many lipsticks, but always shy out and opt for nudes. I went as a vampire for Halloween and was in love with my lips. So I decided to recreate a look which would make the lipstick more wearable without all of the fake blood! I think this colour/style makeup suits all different skin colours, from the palest (me) to people with darker skin.

I havent included any of the products I used on my face because I'm just wearing pretty standard makeup. I do think a heavily contoured look is needed to make the lips more dramatic, but obviously its personal preference.

As I mentioned earlier the lipstick was originally for Halloween so I didnt want to splash out. The colours I opted for were Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick - 128 Starry-Eyed and Barry M Lipliner - 7. The Rimmel Lipstick is actually really good and moisturising. By the end of my meal it was all around my face, but I don't know if that can really be helped! The Barry M Lipliner is okay. It lines my lips and stays on well but I find it harder than other lipliners to use. Its not as creamy as MAC Lipliners meaning you have to have a very steady hand when applying it.

These are the eyeshadows used to create this look. I applied Makeup Geek - Twilight to the main part of my eyelid. I then used MAC - Kid to create a shadow through my eyelid crease. Kid is slightly darker than my natural skin colour so creates a really natural looking crease. I dont have very deep eyelids so I use Kid in almost every makeup look I create. I then applied Makeup Geek - Bitten to the outer corners of my eyes and blended it out. I didnt want the look to be too red/purple so I applied Mac - Mystery which is a dark brown to the very corner of my eyelid whilst blending it in to Bitten. Mystery is the perfect dark brown, its almost black whilst still not being black. So you can create a more natural look with Mystery than black would. I then applied the white shimmer colour from the MAC Rihanna palette to the inner corners of my eye and water line. (If youre wondering why it looks so wonky/strange, its because I tried to remove it from the original palette it was glued into. I did get it out and it still works fine.. Jut looks a bit odd! I don't recommend doing it.) To finish off the look i mixed Mystery and Bitten to create eyeliner for underneath my eye, applied a dramatic winged liquid eyeliner to my top lid and added false lashes.

All in all this look is quite easy to create. My mum always says you shouldn't mix a dark lip with dramatic makeup - its one or the other. But I think I've managed to find a way to do both and make it work well. If you want me to go into depth with my face makeup or a new look then let me know! I have plenty of makeup waiting for me from Santa so be expecting some new posts soon!!
